ABSTRACT:
We approach the figure of Teresa of Avila as a writer, in a social, cultural and religious environment of hostility to women. Focusing on the Book of her Life, her first work, we analyze the topic of writing out of obedience, and seek other interpretations to Teresa’s literary production, highlighted by recent criticism from a rhetorical analysis of her writings. Starting from a marginalized situation due to her origin, Teresa will present her mystical experience in socially acceptable keys in order to achieve the survival of her written work.
