ÁNGEL GONZÁLEZ, ESPÍA DE PALABRAS
José S. Carrasco Molina
Resumen
Ángel González is included under the so-called “Generation of the 50”, along with other authors such as Gil de Biedma, Claudio Rodríguez, José Agustín Goytisolo and Carlos Barral.
Among the features of his production, the poet from Asturias is a master of irony, which helps to establish diverse relations between reader and speaker, resulting into a wink to the reader. His poetry requires an accomplice rather than a reader and even though there are some constants which recur from his first book, Áspero mundo (1956) to the last one, Otoños y otras luces (2001), the poet recognises nevertheless a change from 1971 onwards. This change coincides with the publication of his book Breves acotaciones para una biografía, where his tendency to pun and to derive irony towards a kind of humour which does not avoid the joke, the frivolization of some motifs and his taste for parody are intensified. He plays with words with great skill, showing audacious imagination, extraordinary intelligence and an enviable language command.
