ABSTRACT
This article approaches blogs created by foreign language teachers from a multimodal perspective. The aim of this study is to describe the communicative and discourse strategies that occur in this cibergenre. Thus, blogs enable communication among users through different semiotic modes: images, sound, text. Global, semantic and pragmatic modes are built through the interrelation of these modes in a communicative-linguistic activity. However, not all blogs take advantage of the representational and communicative potential of each mode with the same efficacy.
This article focuses on the analysis of the communicative potential of the image in interaction with the rest of the semiotic modes which operate in the posts of teachers of Spanish and English as a Foreign Language. This analysis is based on variables such as quantity and typology of images as well as of the rest of modes which are present in every post, their meaning potential and their communicative function. Syntactic, semantic and pragmatic strategies used to achieve cohesion among the different modes will also be studied.
